Most non-residential signs require a sign permit, whether they are permanent or temporary.

The city’s Sign Code Application must be completed and returned to the city’s Planning Division to acquire a sign permit. You will need the following information to complete the application:
- Type of sign (use standards below to determine)
- Illustration, showing the dimensions
- For a detached sign, you need a site plan showing:
- Sign location
- Other significant structures on site
- Sidewalks and bike paths
- The set-back from street right-of-ways

Permanent Wall Signage
(e.g. Identification Sign on the Building)
The total square footage of the sign depends on the size of the building’s facade. Multiple signs are allowed as long as the total sign area does not exceed the maximum signage area as noted in the chart.

Regular Temporary Signage

Up to two temporary signs - either on the wall, detached, or both - are allowed for up to 120 days during the calendar year. They can be displayed for up to 60 consecutive days at one time.
