Snow and Ice

Colorado's unpredictable weather means a winter snowstorm can quickly move through our city when we least expect it. Throughout the snow season the city will provide information about snow removal efforts within city boundaries.

Classification
Storms are classified according to severity. These classifications help determine the most efficient course of action for city crews to take.

Removal
Snow removal is accomplished with six large plows. In the event of a major storm, we can supplement with two front-end loaders, two backhoes, and a few smaller pieces of equipment. In emergency situations such as a blizzard or a series of storms, city equipment and crews may be supplemented with contracted services.

Priority
The city's snow response plan focuses on first clearing streets and paths that have the highest traffic volume. Plowing these main streets first will have the greatest impact on traffic for the majority of commuters.
