    Sign Up for Youth Swimming Team This Summer

    The Northglenn Snappers, the city's Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) team, is a great stepping stone for kids who want to join a swimming team without getting too competitive.

    Participants must meet certain swimming requirements (see right). If your youth is not quite up to that proficiency, they are encouraged to join the city's Learn to Swim program.

    Open to ages 6 to 14, this summer team typically has meets on Saturdays. Cost is $105 for residents, $115 for non-residents.

    Divisions

    Tryouts will be held, with swimmers organized into the ‘Red’ and ‘Black’ divisions based on ability.

    Red: Must complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke unassisted and swim the length of the pool unassisted. Practices are Monday and Wednesday, 4 to 5 p.m.

    Black: Must complete 25 yards of backstroke and swim breaststroke and butterfly, as well as swim 200 yards freestyle non-stop. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday, 4 to 5 p.m.
