Volunteer with Police
Contact Commander Jeremy Sloan at 303-450-8854 or email jsloan@northglenn.org for more information on volunteering with the police.
The Northglenn Police Department recognizes the need and desirability for shared stewardship and partnership with the community for a safer and more community-oriented city. Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of programs, events and divisions within the Northglenn Police Department.
Most of the Northglenn Police Department’s volunteers come from graduates of our Citizen’s Police Academy. After graduating the Citizen’s Police Academy, many people join the Northglenn Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, through which many of the volunteer opportunities at the police department are coordinated.
Some of the current volunteer opportunities include the following:
Fingerprints: The volunteer will fingerprint members of the public during regularly scheduled times or pre-scheduled appointments. Interns/volunteers will take ink rolled ten print fingerprint cards, ensure required information is complete on the front of the card, and quality check cards prior to submission to the FBI and/or CBI.
Park Ranger Bicycle Patrol: The volunteer Park Ranger Bicycle Patrol will include courtesy patrol of all city parks, open spaces and bike paths. The park ranger will give verbal warnings to those who are violating park rules and, when necessary, request police officer assistance. This program mostly occurs during the spring and summer.
Records assistant: Assist police service representatives with filing, especially pawn tickets, custody reports in “ID” folders, assisting with typing information on fingerprint cards and other duties as assigned based upon ability.
