"Potato Man" sits just outside the police station front door on the southwest side of the Northglenn Administration Building. The bronze sculpture won the People's Choice Award in 2004 as part of the Art of Parade program.

Summer Concert Series

The Sounds of Summer Concert Series provides Northglenn residents and visitors access to the best performances for free!

All events take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, across from City Hall, 11701 Community Center Drive. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at 7 p.m. at D.L. Parsons Theatre, across the street in the Northglenn Recreation Center.

July 4th Family Festival


Come, celebrate with Northglenn as we commemorate our freedom at the July 4th Family Festival! With 15 hours of activities at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, metro north families can partake in affordable entertainment for the whole family.

Activities begin at 7 a.m. and conclude with a breathtaking fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Scheduled activities include a pancake breakfast, bake sale, kids' fun area with inflatables and a military recognition. Pedal boats will be available for rent throughout the day and during the fireworks show.

This is a family friendly event; no alcohol, please.

Chili Cook Off
Savor the best chili in town! Northglenn's Youth Commission is organizing the first annual Chili Cook Off, sponsored by the Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association of Northglenn (CPAAAN). Judging is between 11:15 and 11:45 a.m. to decide who makes the best red and green chili in town.

Once the judging is complete, lunch begins and everyone is invited to see if their taste buds agree with the judges. Chili will be available for $3 a bowl, with all proceeds benefiting the Northglenn Youth Commission's skate park project. Prizes will be awarded for the best red and green chili.

The entry fee is $20. Pre-register at the Northglenn Recreation Center by Wednesday, July 1, to be eligible to win. Entrants must provide a minimum of four quarts of chili.

Water Works at the Play Pavilion
July 4th has been proclaimed a "Play Day" in the city, as Northglenn is the very first city in Colorado to earn the designation of Playful City USA. The Water Works at the Play Pavilion will be open for the youngsters to enjoy between 1-4 p.m.

Soul School Concerts
Soul School will perform in concert from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Soul School is a high-energy dance band entertaining through a vast repertoire of music which includes rhythm and blues, Motown, jazz, rock, funk, golden oldies, country and contemporary. Soul School is known for tight harmonies, great choreography and fun audience interaction.

Military Recognitions
The city will honor U.S. military members from Northglenn who have or are serving in the current fight again terrorism. This is a tribute to our military heroes who have risked their lives to preserve our freedom.

Fireworks
Fireworks will be launched between 9:30 and 10 p.m. If the fireworks are not launched by 10 p.m, the show will be set off on July 5.

Parking
Parking is available in the parking lot west of City Hall, at the Northglenn Recreation Center lot, east of the Ramada Plaza in the vacant lots and at Wagon Road park-n-Ride at 120th Avenue and Huron Street.

Volunteers
Volunteers are needed on July 5 to help clean after the day-long celebration. Volunteers are asked to report to the park at 6 a.m. to ready the park for public use by 9 a.m.

The July 4th Family Festival is sponsored by the Northglenn-Thornton Sentinel, Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation and Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

National Night Out

Each year, neighborhoods in Northglenn are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the National Night Out crime and drug prevention event, whwich is mean to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relationships.

Safe Street Halloween

Organized by the Northglenn Police Department and Northglenn High School, Safe Street Halloween provides a safe place to have an evening of Halloween fun with haunted houses, candy, music, entertainment and plenty of costumes.

More than 5,000 people attended last year.
