Commander Ian Lopez
Commander Ian Lopez started his law enforcement career with the Police Department in 1999.
Officer 1999-2005
Sergeant 2005-2014
Commander 2014-current

Prior to becoming a police officer, Commander Lopez graduated from University of Northern Colorado in 1995 and worked in Public Education and Recreation.

Responsibilities

The Patrol Division provides first responder police and animal control services to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Duties include:

  • Enforcing criminal and traffic laws
  • Apprehending criminals
  • Maintaining public order
  • Responding to calls for service
  • Conducting investigations
  • Educating the public regarding safety issues
  • Educating the public regarding crime prevention
