The Northglenn Justice Center will be the new home of the Police Department and Municipal Court.

Police and Court are now fully operational at the new Justice Center.

Goals
  • A building that will meet the needs of the Police Department, Municipal Court and residents into the future. 
  • The new building will be a landmark that residents and travelers will identify as being with the City of Northglenn.

Funding
The budget is $24,290,895 and is being paid from the 1/2% sales tax dedicated for capital projects.

 
Location
The new center will be on a six-acre site owned by the city at 50 W. Community Center Drive. This in the area of 112th Avenue and Community Center Drive, near the water towers.


Next
All police services will be housed in the Justice Center starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.

Timeline
  • Sept. 11, 2018
    Ribbon cutting for the new facility.


  • July/August 2018
    The contractor completed the majority of items found during punch list walks. The project received the Certificate of Occupancy and delivery/installation of furniture has begun. The project is on schedule for the ribbon cutting on Sept. 11, 2018.

  • May 2018
    Work on the Northglenn Justice Center has shifted outside as the fall grand opening approaches. Contractors are installing concrete sidewalks, gutters, the irrigation system and privacy fencing in addition to continuing work inside the building. Passers-by can now see the traffic lights installed in front of the building.

  • March 2018
    Now when the sun rises, the rays not only light up the girders and bricks of the Northglenn Justice Center, but illuminate the newly-installed glass windows. In addition to the exterior shell, the contractor continues to put together the interior partitions, HVAC and electrical systems. Work has spread outside the building, as infrastructure for the new traffic signal and the foundation for the monument sign has been constructed. 

  • February 2018
    The contractor for the Northglenn Justice Center continues to work on the exterior shell, interior partitions and the electrical and HVAC systems. Infrastructure for the new traffic signal is also being installed.


  • Dec. 27, 2017
    Construction crews focus on the outside of the Northglenn Justice Center while the weather is still relatively warm and dry. That way, when winter sets in, they can move inside and continue work.

  • Mid November 2017
    With winter set to pounce on the Front Range at any time, the contractor for the Northglenn Justice Center is focused on finishing the exterior before the cold weather settles in. On the inside, the priority is the masonry.

  • Oct. 30, 2017
    The contractor has begun limited backfilling around the building and expects to complete the north foundation wall shortly. Masonry work has begun on the interior and will be a focus of the contractor coming up. The contractor's main goal is to complete the exterior of the building, protecting the interior from winter conditions.

  • Oct. 4, 2017
    The contractor will begin working on grading the detention pond and channels. Backfilling of the foundation wall is ongoing. Domestic water and water meter box installs are underway this week. Interior masonry priority walls are underway.

  • Sept. 22, 2017
    The contractor will be completing structural steel this week. The first concrete pour on the deck has been completed with the second pour (East Main Deck and Rotunda) scheduled for Friday. Interior masonry priority walls are underway and will continue for some time. Backfilling of the foundation began this week and will continue for two to three weeks.

  • Aug. 16, 2017
    The contractor is setting the structural steel for the building. When this is completed crews will begin placing concrete for the upper floors.

  • June 29, 2017
    The concrete foundation walls and grade breams have been formed. The first of three concrete slabs that will form the floor of the building has been poured. Utility, sanitary and sewer work continues.

  • June 8, 2017
    Concrete placement for the east and west grade beams is complete. Concrete is placed for the east and center foundation walls, and work continues on forming the remaining walls and grade beam. The construction manager has begun installing the under-slab plumbing and electrical. Upcoming work includes: continuing construction of the walls, the grade beam, and plumbing and electrical. The first of three slab pours is scheduled tentatively for 6/23.

  • May 18, 2017
    The site has been graded to allow work on the foundation to begin. They have installed 129 watertight retaining structures and will be forming and reinforcing walls in the next few weeks. Utility work on the sanitary line at Acoma Street is underway and should be completed in three weeks.
