Citizen's Police Academy

Since 1998, the Northglenn Police Department has offered citizens of Northglenn the opportunity to learn more about crime in their community, and the activities of the police department, through our Citizen's Police Academy. Instruction is given by lecture, hands-on experience, and demonstrations at several locations within the city.

Most of the classes are held in the training room at the Police Department. The programs are approximately 11 weeks long, and scheduled for three hours each night.

Some of the topics of the classes may include:

• Patrol Procedures
• DUI
• Traffic Accident Investigations
• Taser
• Law Enforcement Careers
• Gangs
• Police Training
• Investigations
• Officer Survival
• ADCOM/Police Dispatch
• Community Policing
• Meth Labs/Drugs
• Ride-Along with Patrol

The requirements for the respective academies are as follows:
Teen Academy: Current student of Adams 12 school, 16 to 18 years of age.
Adult Academy: Northglenn resident, or employed in Northglenn, 18 years of age or older.

The academies are on a first come, first served basis, with limited space available. You may complete the application online, by clicking on the application on the left sidebar or fill out a paper application from the front desk of the Northglenn Police Department.
