Bike Lane Pilot Project

Click here for information on a public feedback event on Aug. 2 at Stukey Elementary.

As part of Connect Northglenn, the city's bicycle and pedestrian master plan, we will be installing a bike lane project on Grant Street from Muriel Drive to Malley Drive in late July. The project will be in place at least through October.

New Street Configuration

Grant Street from Malley Drive to Emery Road will have:
• Two striped bike lanes
• Two 11-foot travel lanes
• Striped parking lane on the east side. (Parking on the west side of the street will be restricted)

Grant Street from Emery Road to Muriel Drive (adjacent to Stukey Elementary) will have:
• Striped parking lanes on both sides
• ‘Sharrow’ bicycle symbols to encourage drivers to share the road

We will also install new signage along the entire length.

Feedback

This will be Northglenn’s first bike lane. We hope that cyclists and motorists will try out the new configuration and give us feedback. That way, we can determine how additional bike lanes should be installed on other city streets as part of the city's bicycle and pedestrian master plan, Connect Northglenn.

Why This Stretch of Road?

We had a number of reasons to do the bike lane pilot project on this section:
• The width was wide enough and also similar to other streets in town
• Adequate traffic
• Proximity to residential areas, commercial areas and a school
• Residents have complained that motorists drive too fast here, and similar projects have been shown to push down driving speeds

Sharing The Road

Bicycle Colorado has summarized Colorado’s bicycle-related laws as they apply to people driving motor vehicles and people riding bicycles on roads, paths and mountain bike trails in Colorado.
