Preschool Sports Leagues

Preschool sports are introductory programs for children ages 3-7. They are designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport and to interact with other children in a fun and recreational setting. The program requires a parent to attend each class. The format is 30 minutes of instruction followed by recreational games.

Program Information


• T-Ball: Coed league for ages 4-6. Practice and games will be held from 9:00am- 10:30am on Wednesdays at the Jaycee Ball Park. Please bring a baseball glove, hat and water bottle - NO cleats. Fee includes team t-shirt.  Fee: $38

• Coach Pitch: Coed league for ages 6-8.  Participants will practice once a week from 6:30-7:30 on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.  Games played on Thursday starting at 6:30.  Volunteer coaches receive a 50% discount for each child they have registered.  Practice and games are held at Northwest Open Space. Fee:$60

• Kids Pitch: Coed league for ages 9-12.  Participants will practice twice a week from 6:00-8:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays.  Games played on Thursdays starting at 6:00.  Volunteer coaches receive a 50% discount for each child registered. Fee: $60



The city hosts basketball leagues and camps year-round for youth of all ages. Practice locations and times vary. The competitive nature varies depending on age group and league, but the focus will always center on good sportsmanship and fundamentals.
All leagues are Coed and the City of Northglenn can not guarantee an equal ratio of boys and girls on each team.

Little Dunksters Basketball League Ages 3-6
Participants practice for 30 minutes and play a game directly after practice.  Leagues are held on Sundays from 9:30-10:30 for 6 weeks at a time.  Participants play cross court on 6 foot basketball rims with a 22 inch basketball.  This program is only offered in the fall and winter months, next season begins January 14, 2018.  Volunteer coaches receive a 50% discount at the end of the season.


Cross Country

The city's Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) cross-country program gives youth a chance to experience competitive running for the first time, or to prepare them for cross country in high school. Races are 2K or 5K, depending on the age level. Practices will typically be held at Northwest Open Space from 4:30 - 5:30 Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with some practices at other locations in the city. The team will compete against other cities and agencies around the Denver metro area on Saturdays and times are TBA. Meet shirts will be supplied. Practice begins August 15th, 2017,Fee: $60




This recreational lacrosse league ages 8-14  is designed to help teach and improve player skills as well as provide organized competition within Colorado. Learn to play lacrosse in a recreational setting. No experience in playing lacrosse necessary. Teams will compete against other agencies across the metro area. There will be two practices a week ( Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday) at Wyco Park. Games will be held on Saturdays at various locations across the metro area. Jerseys will be provided. Helmet, gloves, mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, sticks are required. Practice begins February 26th, 2018  Fee: $79


Mighty Mites Sampler


If you're looking to keep your child ages 3-4 active while learning basic sports skills and good sportsmanship, than this is the class for you. Every 2 weeks participants will embark on a new sport which include soccer, t-ball, and flag football.  Classes are held at or nearby the Northglenn Recreation Center on Tuesdays from 10:15-11:30 for 6 weeks starting September 5th.  Call 303-450-8800 for class availability. • Mighty Mites ages 3-5: Games are held at Wyco Park on Fridays from 9-9:45 a.m . Fee includes a team t-shirt. Fee: $39 
• Grass Roots 4vs4 ages 5-7: Games held at Wyco Park on Fridays from 10:00-11:15 a.m. Teams will practice for 45 minutes and play a 30 minute game directly after practice.  No scores or records are kept. Fee includes a team t-shirt. Fee: $55



The city of Northglenn has two swim teams: the Snappers and Fusion. The Snappers is a recreation swimming program offered to youth ages 6 to 18 years old with limited competitive swimming experience, although they must have basic knowledge of swimming freestyle, the backstroke and breaststroke. The Fusion is a competitive swim team with more advanced swimming prowess, affiliated with USA Swimming.  For more information on the Snappers or Fusion swim teams, please contact Steve Hanson at


Track and Field



Youth ages 5-16 can build a diverse track base, practicing for and competing in up to five different events. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and the sport they are participating in. Athletes will receive activity equipment and a team t-shirt as they compete in up to five track meets around the state. Practices are held at Silver Hills Middle School.  Participants can choose between a morning practice 9:00 a.m- 10:30 a.m or an evening practice from 6:30 p.m- 8:00 p.m on Mondays, Tuesday, & Thursday. Fee: $75




CARA volleyball teams grades 5th-8th compete against other agencies across the metro area. Teams will play in two tournaments plus the state tournament. Players will be placed on a team at the first practice based on their grade level. The CARA volleyball league is a section of the Colorado Parks & Recreation Association.  Practice is held on Mondays and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:15-5:45 at the Northglenn Recreation Center, tournaments are held on Saturdays starting at 9:00 a.m at various locations in the Denver metro area.  Practice begins March 12th, 2018. Fee: $75
