Trash & Recycling Pick Up

The city provides trash pick-up and curbside recycling service to all single-family residences in Northglenn. Businesses should contact a private provider. Apartment complexes should provide service to the residents living there.

How Much Does Monthly Service Cost?

Residences are charged $16 per month for trash collection, which appears on the monthly utility bill.

Trash Carts

All residential households are required to use a trash cart from the city for all trash collection. This is necessary because of equipment compatibility, cart damage, warranties and for the city to provide an automated trash collection system.

If you do not have a trash cart, you must purchase one to have trash pickup service through the city.

Carts are available in the following sizes, pricing, and weight capacity:
• 96-gallon at $60 and will hold up to 300 pounds
• 64-gallon at $58 and will hold up to 224 pounds

They are guaranteed to work with the city’s trash trucks and come with a 10-year-warranty.

Recycling carts are free of charge.

When is My Trash Picked Up?

Trash is collected Monday through Friday. The map above shows the trash collection day for the different sections of the city.
• Monday: Northeast section of city, south part of Fox Run
• Tuesday: Southeast section of city, west part of Fox Run
• Wednesday: Central section of city (between I-25 and Washington Street, east part of Fox Run)
• Thursday: West section of city (west of I-25, north of 104th Avenue)
• Friday: Southwest section of city (south of 104th Avenue)

Trash carts can be placed out at 5 p.m. the day before collection and should be on the curb by 7 a.m. on trash day.

Trash is NOT picked up on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
If your trash day falls on one of these holidays, your trash will be picked up on the next business day.

When is My Recycling Picked Up?

Curbside recycling is picked up every two weeks on a residence's trash day. The same placement and timing rules apply to recycling carts.

Trash and Recycle Cart Placement

Both recycling and trash carts must be placed with the rear wheels in the gutter and with the handle pointing away from the street. Carts should be 6 feet away from parked cars and other obstacles.

If you have more than one cart, please place them at least 2 feet apart (about an arm’s length) to allow the mechanical arm to properly lift the cart.

When not out in the street, store carts in the yard behind your home, in your carport or garage or in the side yard, next to an exterior wall of your home. Please do not leave them directly in front of your home facing a street or in your front yard, unless your housing type prohibits your ability to comply with the storage requirements.
