Save-A-Lot Brings New Grocery Opportunities to Huron Center

Scheduled to Open in Early Fall

Save-A-Lot has leased 21,773 square feet in the Huron Center, located at 104th Avenue and Huron Street, and will begin construction soon. They plan to open the new grocery store in Northglenn by early fall.

The $10 million Huron Center revitalization project began last summer, and Save-A-Lot will be the third new national tenant attracted to the center.

“Evergreen is thrilled to be partnering with Save-A-Lot, AutoZone and Arby’s in our redevelopment of the Huron Center,” said Tyler Carlson, managing principal of Evergreen Development. “All three are best-in-class operators in their respective businesses and positioned to be successful in our ever-changing retail and restaurant environment. With their tenancy, the Huron Center is positioned for enduring success that will significantly benefit the City of Northglenn.”

Northglenn Urban Renewal Authority Chair Rosie Garner said, “I'm happy we were able to secure these tenants, and our vision for revitalizing the center is becoming a reality. Working with Evergreen to achieve our goals has been a pleasure.”

Save-A-Lot will be Northglenn’s fourth grocery store and the only one in the city west of Interstate 25. The building will be completely renovated.

All the Colorado Save-A-Lot locations are owned and operated by Leevers Supermarkets, Inc., which is headquartered in Franktown. Leevers Supermarkets, doing business as Save-A-Lot, started as a family-owned business in 1938. In 2012, Leevers Supermarkets became a 100 percent employee-owned (ESOP) company with approximately 200 members, a 65 percent minority ownership and 21 stores located in Colorado and Florida.

President John Leevers said, “We try to go one step further by working with customers to build healthier families and communities. When you shop with us, you support our local employee owners. We are proud that Save-A-Lot will create 30 to 50 jobs in the neighborhood.”

Save-A-Lot stores are a discount supermarket chain with 1,300 locations across the country. They offer a limited assortment of carefully-selected, high-quality food and household items that emphasizes the Save-A-Lot brand as well as national brand products. The Save-A-Lot stores offer fresh and healthy products with a large selection of fruits and vegetables, an on-site butcher, seafood department and bakery, all at affordable prices and sometimes as much as 40 percent lower than conventional stores. The individual Save-A-Lot stores in Colorado and Florida work closely with their neighborhoods to meet the food desires of their customers.
