"Tires and Spokes" given on behalf of Northglenn Bike Program

The wheels of generosity keep turning for Northglenn resident Steve Austin.

He purchased 2016-17 Art on Parade finalist Tires and Spokes and is donating the sculpture back to the city on behalf of the Northglenn Bike Program.

Austin is an ardent volunteer for the group, which spends a day or so each week cleaning up and repairing bicycles so they can be given away to less fortunate area families.

“Tires and Spokes” will become the 24th piece of Northglenn’s public art collection. The final location has not been set.

“We're absolutely thrilled that one of our local residents not only volunteers his time for the bike program and Northglenn Senior Organization, but has also boldly supported Northglenn Arts through the purchase and gifting of public art,” said Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation Director Michael Stricker. "We are humbled by his gesture."

Art on Parade is an on-loan sculpture program where six pieces are chosen each year to temporarily reside in Northglenn’s E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park.
