Pirate Fest 2016, Sept. 16-17

New this year, mermaids!

Pirate Festival Drops Anchor in September
(Northglenn, CO) The Northglenn Pirate Festival will be held September 16th and
17th at EB Rains Jr. Memorial Park on the southeast corner of 120th Ave and I-25, at 11701
Community Center Drive.

The kick-off of the event, the Pirate Ball, on Friday, September 16th from 5:30-10:00 p.m. is for adults age 18+ who want to act the part of a pirate. Tickets are $20 for dinner (a full pig roast with all the trimmings) and drinks are $5 each. Costumes are encouraged (if not expected). Enjoy entertainment on the Main Stage including Potcheen, the opening of the mermaid stage, sword fighting, a walk-around treasure map contest, crowning of the “Pirate King,” and general piratical shenanigans including plenty of beer, mead and, of course, RUM! Yo ho ho!

The second day is for young and old, everyone is welcome and the event itself is free. The Pirate Festival is from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the same location and is for pirates of all ages. Events include bounce houses, treasure hunts, mermaids, kid’s crafts, over 50 vendor booths, birds of prey and lots more! The Society of Creative Anachronism will be back with sword fighting demonstrations and archery. Come in costume, or enjoy watching those who did, and enjoy being a pirate for a day.

A mermaid stage was the most requested addition from the first year and will feature a 5,000 gallon pool filled with mermaids singing their mermaid song, swimming, and teaching about the history of these mythical creatures. Other entertainment includes bands, gypsy dancers, stilt performances and more.

Local pirates can prove they are sea worthy by building a boat for the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Regatta racers will test their boat made of cardboard, duct tape and paint as they sail across Webster Lake. Registration beings at noon and the tournament is from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
