Presentations

Beginning
When Civic Center Master Plan discussions took place in 2016, a reccuring message from the public was the desire for a new recreation center/senior center/theater.

Assessment
It will include an in-depth analysis of facilities, programming and staffing of the current and future recreation amenities in anticipation of a new multi-use facility on the civic center campus. The size and features of the proposed multi-use facility will ultimately be determined based on public input and project budget. This assessment begins phase one of implementing the Civic Center Master Plan.

A key step will be understanding the program needs and desires of our changing community. Ultimately, the recommended facility and programs will be assessed to determine a sustainable approach for staffing, maintenance and operations.

Outreach
The public input process will occur between September 2017 and February 2018.

In September, a series of public outreach events was held and an advisory group held its first meeting. Then, focus groups were formed, with their first meeting on Tues., Oct. 10. They will participate in five, four-hour workshops through March 2018.

Timeline
A recommendation as to whether or not to move forward with the project will be made in March 2018.

Funding
Funding has been identified to build a new facility without an increase in taxes, should residents and City Council decide to move forward with the project.
