Street Sweeping

Streets are cleaned with a large brush that forces debris out of the pavement where it is picked up into the truck.  A small amount of water is sprayed onto the street to control the dust.

October 2019 Street Sweeping

The fall sweeping will begin on Oct. 8 and continue through the end of the month.

We need help from residents to get the job done. Please review the map below to see when your street is scheduled and make sure you have moved any vehicles, trailers and any other items off the street or to the opposite side of the street on your scheduled day.

We will only be on each street the day(s) scheduled. That means if a vehicle is not moved in time, that area will not get swept. Please notify your neighbors if you see their vehicles parked incorrectly.

To help reduce confusion and disruption to residents, once the schedule is made we must stick to it, weather permitting.  If we have a weather or other emergency that causes us to miss any street(s), the affected streets will be rescheduled after this schedule has been completed.

***Updated Information*** Due to the inclement weather, street sweeping for the streets west of Huron Street in Northglenn will be delayed until Monday, Nov. 4, and Tuesday, Nov. 5. They were originally supposed to be swept yesterday and today. The odd-numbered side of the road will be swept on Monday, and the even side on Tuesday. Residents are asked to remove any vehicles or other obstacles from the curb.

The map shows seven areas labeled 1-7. Each area requires two full days to complete. Your address determines your sweeping day.

If your address ends in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9, you are on the odd schedule. If the number of your address ends with 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8, you are on the even schedule.

  • The first date is the odd-numbered side of the street.
  • The second date is the even-numbered side of the street.

Example: On the map, the area identified as 1 will have all streets in that area completed on Oct. 8 and 9.

On Oct. 8,  the sweepers will clean from the middle of the street to the curb on the side with odd-number addresses.

On Oct. 9, the sweepers will clean from the middle of the street to the curb on the side with even-number addresses.

You must keep the sweeping side of the street clear from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for both days of the cycle. You may still drive on the street, but not park.

This process will continue throughout the entire schedule.

Benefits
  • Keeps Northglenn beautiful
  • Decreases air borne pollutants and particulates
  • Protects water quality by preventing debris from entering storm drains

Do Your Part
  • Prune overhanging tree branches to at least 14 feet above the street so the sweeper can sweep up to the curb line
  • Do not sweep yard debris into the street
  • When driving keep a safe distance away from the sweeper

Schedule
All city streets are routinely swept in the spring and fall, typically in May and October.  Also, weather permitting, streets are swept after every storm event that requires the application of ice melting materials.
