Pull a Permit

A building permit must be pulled in person at City Hall through the city's Building Division, which is operated by SAFEbuilt.

Pulling a Permit
The office is located in City Hall. Hours are 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The plan review fee is required at the time a permit is submitted so the plan review may begin. The city accepts Visa, MasterCard, check or cash.

Timeframe for Building Review
  • Residential: Five to seven days
  • Commercial job less than $2 million: 10-13 days
  • Commercial job greater than $2 million: 21 days

Needed Plans
For typical homeowner projects, two sets of plans are required for a permit.

Each set should include:
  • A site plan
  • A floor plan
  • A section view, if needed

The site plan shows where the proposed construction will be located, including lot dimensions and all existing structures. A floor plan shows the use of the space, any framing proposed and its dimensions. A section view shows how the structure is attached to the existing building.
