The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department provides a wide variety of recreational activities for adults and children, quality parks and open space areas, and the theatre provide a well-blended mix of cultural programming and entertainment options for residents and users.

Playful City USA - Four Straight Years!

In 2011, KaBOOM! a national non-profit organization dedicated to bringing play back into children’s lives, has named Northglenn as a Colorado Playful City USA community for the fourth straight year.

Northglenn was selected for completing a number of playground improvement projects last year and has several more underway for 2011. This city’s playground replacement process allowed for citizen input and it ensured that all playground equipment is safe.

Through the Playful City USA program, other communities across the country look to Northglenn as a role model in the development of play options. These cities and towns will examine the city’s best practices and look to replicate them in their own communities. The city takes a tremendous amount of pride in knowing that what we’re doing here in Northglenn will improve the lives of children.
