Six pieces of public art are installed at E. B. Rains, Jr. Memorial Park as part of the "Art on Parade" program. These pieces, which are on loan from the artists, are displayed in the park for one year and then replaced each year with a new selection. One piece, the "People's Choice", is purchased for permanent installation in one of the City's parks or facilites. Susan Geissler's life-sized bronze titled, "The Potato Main", is the recipient of the 2004 "People's Choice Award". This sculpture is currently located on the west side of City Hall.
fire hydrant flushing

Each spring (with the exception of drought years) city crews flush every fire hydrant along the 110 miles of water mains in Northglenn to remove debris in the form of sand particles and pipe scale. We have found that night flushing results in fewer problems for our residents and businesses as water demand is low, cooking, showering, and other normal daily activities are not disturbed, and there will be less interference with vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Small amounts of iron and manganese may temporarily discolor your water during this process, but it poses no health threat. If you notice a rusty tinge to your water, open all your faucets at the same time for a few minutes until the water runs clear. Avoid doing laundry if the water is tinged as it may discolor some items. Questions about the City's hydrant flushing program may be directed to Gene Maypole at gmaypole@northglenn.org or by calling 303-280-7802 on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..
