Each year, Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrive at the Northglenn Recreation Center to help turn the city's holiday lights on as part of Noel Northglenn.
trash collection regulations

Pick-Up Times

Polycarts or special pick ups shall be placed for collection no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection, or no earlier than 5 p.m. on the day prior to collection.
-
Placement of Polycarts

Polycarts must be placed in the gutter with the handle facing the house. Please put the polycarts at least 6 feet away from parked cars. If you have more than one polycart, please place them at least two feet away from each other.
-
Trash Containment and Items

All regular trash must be placed in a polycart to be picked up.

The only exceptions are special pick ups and curbside recycling of batteries, antifreeze and/or motor oil.

Through the end of 2009, the city will accept bagged green waste (leaves, grass clippings, etc.) placed to the side of the polycart. However, starting Jan. 1, 2010, green waste must be put in a polycart or it will NOT be collected.

Within the polycarts themselves:
  • Cold ashes or pet feces should be placed in a sealed double bag when placed in the polycart
  • Sod and soil will be collected as long as the polycart does not exceed its maximum weight capacity.
Materials Not Collected
  • Normal trash not confined in the polycart
  • Paint in liquid form, chemicals, household cleaning products, biological or medical waste or medicines
  • Dead animals or parts of animals
  • Hot ashes or coals
  • Trash in any polycart not purchased from the city
Limitations

Residents are limited to up to three polycarts during any one weekly pick up.

The polycarts do have weight limits:
  • 96 gallon - 300 pounds
  • 64-gallon - 200 pounds
  • 48-gallon - 150 pounds
Notice of Violation

Trash that is in violation of these regulations will not be collected and a courtesy notice will be left stating the reason.

The Solid Waste Division is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays). Please call 303-450-4004 if you have any questions about trash collection rules and regulations in Northglenn.

Your cooperation in complying with these rules and regulations allows the city to continue to provide efficient and cost effective collection and disposal services to our residents.
