Each spring, city crews flush every hydrant along the 110 miles of water mains in Northglenn to remove debris. Small amounts of iron and manganese may temporarily discolor your water during this process, but it poses no health threat. If you notice a rusty tinge to your water, open all your faucets at the same time for a few minutes until the water runs clear. Avoid doing laundry if the water is tinged as it may discolor some items. For questions about the city's hydrant flushing program, call 303-280-7834.

| 104th avenue bridge construction |
Project Overview
On July 6, 2009, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a project to replace the 104th Avenue bridge over Interstate 25.
The original bridge was constructed in 1962 and is one of Colorado's structurally-deficient bridges. The new bridge will be wider to accommodate an additional left turn lane from eastbound 104th Avenue to northbound I-25.
The $6.5 million project is scheduled to be complete in late 2010.
- Completed Work
During the first several weeks of construction, crews have been removing the median on 104th Avenue and patching. With the first phase almost complete, crews will begin the second phase of the project by demolishing the northern portion of the existing structure. During demolition, southbound Interstate 25 at 104th Avenue will be completely closed from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and northbound from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Motorists will be detoured via the one and off-ramps at Interstate 25 and 104th Avenue.

The Northglenn Urban Renewal Authority (NURA) has budgeted $750,000 for aesthetic improvements. When this project was bid, the costs for the aesthetic improvements came in approximately $250,000 under NURA's budgeted amount.
Aesthetic improvements will include upgraded bridge railing and lighting similar to the existing lighting on the Community Center Drive Bridge in addition to cornerstone monuments at the four ends of the bridge and “Northglenn” monument signage mounted to an upgraded retaining wall located in the northbound off ramp zone area.
