E. B. Rains Park Cleanup
Officers from the Northglenn Police Department volunteer their time and energy to clean up and beatify the E.B. Rains memorial area. The memorial is located on the East side of E.B. Rains Park, 11700 Community Center Drive. Sergeant Steve Garrow is pictured with Chief Russ Van Houten.
E.B. Rains is the only Northglenn Officer to lose his life while on duty in the city's history. Corporal Edgar Blain Rains Jr. lost his life on May 30th, 1984 while protecting the citizens of Northglenn.

The Support Services Division is under the command of Commander Steve Sanders.
Sanders started his law enforcement career with the Greeley Police in 1987 and his tenure with the Northglenn Police Department started in July 1994. Sanders received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance from the Metropolitan State College of Denver and a Masters of Science Degree in Computer Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He is also a graduate of the 228th Session of the FBI’s National Academy.
Sanders has been assigned to the Motorcycle Traffic Unit and the Technical Traffic Accident Investigation Team. Sanders spent seven years as an entry member of the SWAT Team.
In 1999, Sanders was promoted to the rank of sergeant, where he held assignments in the Training and Recruiting Unit, Investigations and Patrol. Sanders is currently assigned as the Support Division Commander, where he is responsible for investigations, records section, community resources and victim services.
During his career, Sanders has been awarded the Medal of Valor, two Meritorious Service Awards and two Lifesaving Awards.

Lieutenant Commander Sloan has been with the Northglenn Police Department for over 13 years. He has served as a field training officer, department trainer with 10 years on the SWAT Team where he has served a team leader. He has also been an undercover drug detective at North Metro Drug Task Force.
As a sergeant he has supervised all three shifts, the Community Relations/Special Projects Unit, School Resource Officers, the Traffic Team and has also served as the administrative aergeant with both the patrol and support divisions for several years. Sloan has earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is currently working on his Masters of Science Degree at Regis University. He was the first from the Northglenn Police Department to graduate from Northwestern's prestigious School of Police Staff and Command.
Sloan is a two-time Medal of Valor winner. He has also earned the department's Medal of Honor, Life-Saving, and Meritorious Service awards. Sloan currently works on policy, grant writing and assists with managing the support services units.
