Across form the Northglenn municipal complex on Community Center Dr., is the award winning E. B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park. It was named after a fallen police officer in 1985 and today it is one of the most highly used parks in Northglenn. The popularity of E.B. Rains, Jr. Memorial Park is well established in the community as it plays host to numerous community and family oriented special events. The park includes established amenities including five picnic pavilions, a playground, basketball court, and public restrooms.

The residents of Northglenn place a high value on open space. Below is a partial list of open space in the City.
- Northwest Open Space, located south of 112th and Pecos, is a prairie environment with tall native grasses, old trees and a pioneer flavor. But that's not all! Northwest Open Space Recreation area is a hub of youth sports with several multi-use athletic fields.
- Croke Reservoir is located near Huron Street and 105th Avenue. Nature lovers can sit along the shore under the shade of the big cottonwoods, fish, or stroll around the reservoir observing the waterfowl and wildlife. It's so peaceful at Croke Reservoir you can sometimes forget you 're in the city!
