Candlelight Vigil

Officer Jeremy Lund lights a candle for Sergeant Steve Garrow in preparation for a unity of officers showing their support of officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty. The candlelight vigil has become a yearly event, held at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park during National Police Week in mid May.

The legislative affairs of the city are vested in the City Council, which consists of nine members. Two members are elected from each of the city's four wards and the mayor is elected from the city at large. Council enacts local legislation, adopts budgets, determines policies and appoints the city manager, who executes the laws and administers the city government. Click on the ward to view councilmember information and a map of the area they represent.
City Council Meetings

City Council holds meetings at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at City Council Chambers in City Hall, 11701 Community Center Drive. Study sessions are at 6 p.m. in council chambers on the first and third Thursday of the month, as needed.

Meetings are always open to the public and you are welcome to address council during the "Public Invited to be Heard" portion of the agenda at the regular meetings.

The City Charter was adopted on April 29, 1975. It can only be amended by a vote of the registered electors of Northglenn.
