In 2018, the Police Department joined the “Start by Believing” campaign, which encourages everyone to treat sexual assault victims with more consideration and care.

With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Police Department and the city are encouraging everyone to pledge to “Start By Believing.” Just go online to www.northglenn.org/believe and fill out the electronic form.

Campaign
The global campaign began in 2011 by End Violence Against Women International. Many victims of sexual assault never talk about or report the crime, and when they do, the victims face doubt and blame, rather than compassion and support. This often prevents the victim from seeking help through the justice system.
