Do you need prescription drugs that are not covered by insurance? The city may be able to help cut the cost of these medications. The National League of Cities and CVS Caremark have made the Prescription Discount Program available to residents.
The program began in December of 2008 and as of the end of March 2012, participation in the program has saved 1,053 individuals a total of $17,310.12, for an average price savings of 18.3 percent.
Those interested can pick up a free prescription discount card at City Hall, the police department, the recreation center and local churches and apartment complexes. Nine out of 10 pharmacies nationwide participate in the program. The discount card may be used anytime a prescription is not covered by insurance. There are no restrictions and no limit on the number of times the card may be used. For more information, visit www.caremark.com/nlc or call toll-free 1-888-620-1749.
