SAFEbuilt provides a building official, combination inspector, and a full-time permit technician to serve as a direct contact with the citizens of Northglenn.

SAFEbuilt’s corporate office is in Loveland, with operations in Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Washington. They have 60 employees. In 2008, SAFEbuilt supported over $1.5 billion in residential and commercial valuations, performed 5,125 plan reviews and approximately 85,000 inspections.

Building Permits

The city requires a permit for an extensive list of indoor and outdoor projects, with fees based on the cost of the project. Even though obtaining a permit may seem cumbersome, it actually protects the property owner. Having a building permit ensures that a project meets minimum code and safety standards that protect people and the building itself. Also, having a permit will potentially protect the property owners in the face of a potentially destructive lawsuit or when dealing with insurance companies.

For property owners who use a professional contractor for a home project, the contractor should obtain the necessary permits. However, the property owners is ultimately responsible for making sure the project has the proper permits.

Licenses must be turned into the city either in person or by delivery (mail, FedEx, UPS, etc.) Faxed or e-mailed copies WILL NOT be accepted.
